Spokane has sat for years in wait, ripe with potential. We are living in a renaissance in the "Lilac City," with a growing endogenous effort to define its visual personality. Along with the non-native lilacs, this fertile ground nurtures transplanted individuals and brings dreams into fruition. Spokane no longer sees its recently graduated leave to seek opportunities elsewhere. They are germinating their dreams here.

Through the power of print, we contribute to this fecundity. Despite economic setbacks and enduring COVID-19, we persevere in determination and resilience. Kismet can be defined as fate or luck, for us it means, "it's meant to be".  We aim to make Spokane a print town, and hosting RMPA in October 2023 is our Kismet. RMPA grafts our local and regional artists, makers, educators and community.  We come together to celebrate the art of printmaking and share the accomplishments that have arisen from the challenges of recent years.  Accomplishments that grew when initial plans were set aside,  but esoteric developments and new growth sprouted instead.  Through Kismet, we will explore and share those magical moments of discovery and wonder that happen when making prints. We will learn from our challenges and celebrate together. It’s meant to be.

The Rocky Mountain Printmaking Alliance is honored to acknowledge that the City of Spokane is located on the traditional and sacred homelands of the Spokane Tribe.
