RMPA seeks to award outstanding printmaking students and educators in the Rocky Mountain region.

APPLICATIONS DUE BY SEPTEMBER 29th, 2023 | 12:00 MIDNIGHT

Student Award | RMPA 2023

The RMPA Student Award recognizes the outstanding artistic merit and creative potential of a current printmaking student in the rocky mountain region. 

ELIGIBILITY: 

  • Self-nominations will be accepted, nominating others is encouraged

  • Current undergraduate or graduate printmaking student in the Rocky Mountain region. (Alaska, California, Washington, Oregon, Idaho, Montana, Nevada, Wyoming, Utah, Colorado, Arizona, New Mexico) 

  • * Must attend 2023 Symposium in Spokane

APPLICATION MATERIALS:

  • Short Biography (short answer questions)

  • Artistic Statement (250 words)

  • 3 images of current work (within 2 years)

CRITERIA:

  • Artistic Merit + Technical Skill: Quality of the printmaker's work will be evaluated on technical proficiency, creativity, originality, and aesthetic appeal. Craftsmanship, composition, use of color, visual impact, and experimentation with different techniques will be considered. All printmaking mediums and techniques are eligible (intaglio, lithography, screen printing, relief printing, hybrid, etc.). 

  • Conceptual Depth + Engagement: Depth and thoughtfulness of the artist's concepts and ideas. Evidence of artistic exploration, innovation, and intellectual engagement. Degree to which the artist communicates their intended message or explores themes within their work. Impact of the artist's work on the viewer and its ability to evoke emotion, provoke thought, or create a dialogue. Artist's ability to engage with the audience and communicate effectively through their prints.

  • Artistic Growth and Potential: The artist's growth and development over time. Evidence of progression, experimentation, and a willingness to take risks. Artist's potential for future growth and their ability to contribute to the field of printmaking.

Educator Award | RMPA 2023

The RMPA Educator Award recognizes an individual or team, who has/have made an outstanding contribution, innovation, dissemination, and/or impact within their printmaking educational environment; especially as it may relate to (specific) community and/or engagement.

All qualified nominees will be considered regardless of academic rank, grade level educational setting, or institutional affiliation.

ELIGIBILITY: 

  • Self-nominations will be accepted, nominating others is encouraged

  • Current educators in the Rocky Mountain region. (Alaska, California, Washington, Oregon, Idaho, Montana, Nevada, Wyoming, Utah, Colorado, Arizona, New Mexico) 

  • Applicants may be an individual educator or ‘educational team’ (max three persons), academic or non-academic, in the Rocky Mountain region.

  • Nominees need not be affiliated with an academic institution. All printmaking educators working in civic, public, private, non-profit, low-profit, for-profit, educational and community studios and/or presses are encouraged to apply.

CRITERIA:

  • Innovation & Dissemination: Innovation, dissemination, and impact within the teaching/printmaking environment: civic, public, private, low-profit, non-profit, academic or non-academic press/studio.

  • Teaching Impact: ‘outreach’, community engagement, diversity, inclusion, etc. as applicable to specific printmaking setting(s) and outcome(s) and describe the effective impact created and/or that has resulted.

  • Demonstrated Leadership & Engagement: Leadership & Management related to student outcomes and/or program development and outcomes. Professional record of experiences, innovations and impact.
